About Allison-Smith Company
An employee owned, client-driven organization.
OUR HISTORY
Allison-Smith is an employee-owned, client-driven organization.
Founded in 1943, the Allison Smith Company has evolved from a premier Atlanta electrical contracting and engineering firm into a company with a national and international presence. Allison-Smith is proud of our reputation as one of the southeast’s leading electrical contracting firms. Today, we have offices in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
Our story dates back before the post-WWII prosperity of Atlanta in the 1960s. By the 1970s, Allison-Smith had expanded through the Southeast, and by the 1990s, our reach grew internationally. From the beginning, our founder, Robert Allison, instilled a culture of applying electrical engineering acumen to the process of construction. This culture has continued through the leadership of Frank Smith, Lanny Thomas, David Cartwright, Joe Satterfield, Robert Jerrell, and Mark Gallacher.
Our services range from electrical distribution, mission-critical power, lighting systems, and controls, lighting color tuning, security systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, voice and data systems, building automation systems, smart buildings, loT integration, AV, and fiber optics.
Allison-Smith is a true story of “the company that could.” We’ve got a lot of heart, and our team of experts is always eager to bring our clients’ projects-and futures-into a whole new light.
Philosophy
Allison-Smith Company LLC is an employee-owned, client-driven organization. Frankly, we do not exist without you. Our team’s everlasting commitment to becoming the premier electrical contracting company has allowed us to maintain key client relationships for generations. And that’s all we can ask for, since we love having you around! As employees of our own venture, the Allison-Smith team is always engineering solutions to improve the design and construction delivery process so we can deliver maximum value to our clients.
Safety
As a recent winner of the ConstructSecure award, safety is of paramount importance to us at Allison-Smith, and with more than 77 years in the industry, we have seen the evolution of safety in the construction business firsthand. That’s why we have created a culture of care in everything that we do.
All of our office personnel are OSHA 30 trained and nearly all of our field staff are OSHA 10 trained. That means that we’ve made the commitment to be trained in occupational safety and health to minimize the potential for job hazards. Because electrical contracting, as with anything in life, comes with a potential set of risk factors, we are committed to maintaining the highest level of safety and scrutiny. We have 12 full-time safety personnel and a corporate safety director. This commitment to safety has enabled us to maintain one of the lowest EMR’s in the industry.
Financial
Financial stability is not just a snapshot in a moment in time – at Allison-Smith, we believe financial stability is the end result of a long-term disciplined decision-making process.
With a 77-year history, our electrical engineering firm has been blessed with a continuous stream of profit and a strong balance sheet.
